Our favorite thing about women’s flat track derby racing might well be the skaters’ names. Every team member races under a pseudonym and lots of thought obviously goes into coming up with your handle.
Names like “June Carter Crash”, “Ima Zombie” and”Eye Drop Her” give the game an extra dimension and raise the interest level among the spectators. It brings back memories of the early days of professional baseball when players went by nicknames like “Crazy Legs” and “Dizzy”.
There is even a registry for names so that skatkers can protect their “intellectual” property.
